We are deeply honored to announce that we have been awarded the prestigious SC Asphalt Pavement Association 2022 Quality Pavement award for our exceptional work at GMU Airport. This recognition is a testament to the hard work, dedication, and commitment to excellence our builders across South Carolina demonstrate.
The GMU Airport project, which recently concluded, involved the rehabilitation of Taxiways C & D, two critical components of South Carolina’s busiest general aviation airport. Over time, these taxiways experienced significant wear and tear, with an asphalt surface showing signs of deterioration, flat areas holding water, inverted cross slopes, and faded paint marks.
To restore these taxiways to their optimal condition, our team embarked on a meticulous and comprehensive rehabilitation effort. The project required nearly 35,000 square yards of 2-4.5-inch milling, effectively removing the deteriorated surface, and over 7,000 tons of top-quality asphalt to rebuild and resurface the taxiways.
We are immensely proud of our builders, who worked tirelessly to deliver exceptional results on this project. Their expertise, attention to detail, and commitment to upholding the highest industry standards were instrumental in achieving such outstanding outcomes.
What makes this achievement even more remarkable is that we recorded zero (0) recordable injuries throughout the project and experienced no delays in the project’s timeline. This is a testament to the strong safety culture we foster at King Asphalt and the dedication of our team to prioritize the well-being of our employees and the successful completion of every project.
